Madonna, Elvis, My Parents, The Wonderful World of BOOKS, & Diziness

Well, today is Madonna's Birthday, Elvis Presley died 28 years ago today, and 24 years ago today in 1981, my parents, Linda & Joe were married. Thank God they're not still married today, I mean, I love them and I'm glad they met and had me, but if my mom and dad had stayed married I wouldn't have my amazing sisters or great step-mom. God really knows what He's doing and each and everday I thank Him for my sisters! I miss my dad and sisters a lot lately, especially this weekend, tried to get a hold of them all but no luck. Oh well, we're all busy these days and they know my number. My grandma called today and said she was sending my mom and I MORE cookies. Last week, she sent us a big batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies (she makes the BEST EVER, in the history of the WORLD!) and we were teasing her on the phone Sunday night saying "send more cookies." She said she'd do so in a month, and then she suprises me today with the phone call (always such a treat to hear her voice) and the good cookie news! I'm one blessed woman! My grama is SO sweet and my mom is SO generous. How in the heck I got to be THEIR daughter/grandaughter just amazes me. I'm SO lucky! If I'm ever HALF of the women they are, I'll be doing really good. I believe we pick our families, and I'm so dang glad I picked this one. Most days anyway. LOL! Just like any other family, and any other strong minded group of women, we do have our moments! Anyway, my mom is going through crap with her boyfriend right now (as usual) and is really hurting. It hurts to see my mom hurt, I just hate it. She's such a loving wonderful person, I wish SHE could see that. So, last night I fell of the wagon and started picking again (picking my fingers-my old nervous BAD habbit) I haven't done it in a while and today my fingers hurt, so I'm kinda kicking myself for doing that. I didn't sleep very well last night though, didn't go to sleep 'til 4am, which was SO frustrating! Anyway, slept in today, read, watched some TV, etc...nice day, ate myself silly! LOL! I went to the library this past weekend and wiped them out. I suddenly discovered after my trip to Oregon that I love to read. After all, how else am I gonna travel the world the learn new things without money and time-BOOKS! Books are great, I've always loved books, but not always reading them. Now I like to read them. They can take you ANYWHERE, and you can learn so much-any subject in the world, there's at least a 1000 books about it. The Internet is great, but I'm begining to think that books are better at conveying information-more streamlined than the Internet, plus Books are so entertaining and it's really a privilage that I know how to read and have the freedom to do it. And, I can read whatever I want too! It's great! Right now, I'm reading "The Handmaid's Tale," by Margaret Atwood. I was supposed to read it in HS, but never got around to it. It's really good actually. Next, I'm going to read No Ordinary Lives about a man who travels across the U.S. and meets the people and knows their lives-true story, should be very interesting, I've always wanted to do that myself. Like make a documentary of some sort-someday I will-that and publish best selling books-non-fiction, poetry, an auto-biography...I may not have a full plate now, but I will soon and when I do, I'll miss these leisurly days of relaxing, reading and eating, so I'm trying to make the best of them while they last. Plus, I figured since I'm not going to school this semester (I wanted to, just didn't have the $700 to do so) I need something to fill my time and expand my mind! Life's all about learning, that's what I always say. Anyhow, I've had a great day, but I've felt dizzy all day, like passing out you know. And right now, my hands are tired from typing, no energy, so I'm going to cut this short and say goodnight. Goodnight!

Until next time y'all,

Many Blessings,
-SL
