Snow in Las Vegas

Snow in Vegas!!!

Yes! It snowed in Las Vegas! Can you believe it?! I live here, and I can barely believe it! I moved down here from Reno in a complete and total blizzard of a white out, that was quite scary....and, every year since I've moved here, it's snowed! I'm convinced I brought it with me! But, in 5 years, I've never seen such a snow storm in Las Vegas! It was beautiful and odd and scary and great all at the same time! This morning, the kids here in town have no school, I had to laugh! No offense to Native Las Vegans, but it's rather hilliarious to watch the locals here in town try to handle snow!!! I mean, I didn't grow up in the Rocky Mountains or anything, but being born and raised near the Sierra Nevadas, I know how to handle snow! I do not, however, like driving in it, which is exactly why Colin & I decided not to make the (what would've been) dangerous, snow covered trip to Reno....I am very sad about this, it would've been my first holdiay home since 2005, and I was really looking foward to seeing my Grandma and Henry....but, considering the weather (and the fact that pretty much every highway out of Vegas was officially closed by 6pm last night), it was safer to just stay put! I'm really thankful and happy that we all have a warm home here to be in, one another to cuddle up next to and coats/gloves/hats to keep us warm when we venture outside! I do miss the snow, occasionally, in Reno, and since I couldn't make it there this year, I guess a little bit of "home," came to me! So that's kinda neat! I'll get to see my family soon enough when I'm supposed to, there's a reason for everything! I posted 12 pictures of the snow falling and such and even one of my mom, which was a miracle in itself because 1.) she let me take her picture to begin with, and 2.) she was brave enough to walk to the mailbox in the literal freezing cold! She HATES the cold. I'm begining to like it this winter, I'm enjoying it very much! (As long as I have my warm home, my Colin, and enough clothes to stay dry and warm in--I'm very blessed that way because a lot of people do not have those things, I'm a lucky woman!) But, next year, when I'm about to go home for the holidays, please God, just let me get there! LOL! Enjoy the pictures, everyone and stay safe & warm, that's what I'm doing...along with enjoying several cups of hot cocoa, coffee and or tea!!! Happy Holidays everyone, and a Very Merry Christmas too....to be enjoyed in a beautiful, majestic (Las Vegas) Winter Wonderland!!!

In Light N' Love,
-Sarah Liz :)
