Happy Tuesday! Returning to work, housework & errands!
I usually dislike Tuesdays, just not my day, but today was good. I always start a new job in July, in th event I get a job that is, and this month was no different. (I started at the GAP in July 2000, Animal World July 2001, and Macy's July 2002--I only last 6 weeks there!) Today, I went to my Goodwill Training Program, it is work, I'm getting a very small amount of money for it and major training and experience. I'll be there for three weeks, after which my progress/attitude/behavior/puncutality/knowledge/skills will be reported to my Vocational Rehab Counselor, Ellen (she's such a kind and respectful sweetheart!), and we'll look for a 'real' job for me from there! I'm rather excited!I was nervous on the way there this morning, but I knew in the end I'd do great, and I did! It's a lot of fun. It's really nice to get up in the morning (although a bit too early for my liking, how's 6:30am, compared to my 12:30pm wake up time a few weeks ago! LOL!That's a whole SIX hours earlier!), and have somewhere to go and something constructive to do! A lot of the program makes total sense to me and I seem to work a bit faster on certain parts of it, but then, of course, on other parts, I work slower. Some things I'm really good at and quick with, and other things, well, not so much. It's kind of like school, but it's fun. I'll learn all the computer programs, business/phone/office ettiquette as well as phone/mailroom skills. It'll be really great to hone the skills I already have and especially, to learn new ones! And besides, most days, I really do like having somewhere to go and something to do, and I get off rather early so I still have my evenings and afternoons to myself, which is really nice! I think I'm gonna do great in the program and gain a lot of training, experience and confidance from it! It should be neat! It's all about attitude and paitience; that and confidance, and attitude, the right & positive attitude about everything is essential for success in life; whether personal or professional. And it's no more important in one area than the other! But, as of right now, I need to get the store. We have no Purified Water (I won't drink the tap water here in Vegas, eww), Nellie needs more food, I need some fruit and also, I have to go through some boxes in the garage to try and find a pair of black pants, otherwise, I have to go buy a pair of them for work. I have to dress business casual for this job, and the tops, well, I could use a few more--most of my business-like attire is winter oriented and right now, it's around 108* outside. Granted, I'm in an office, but going to and from the car, in winter like clothes, get a little scary hot. Yikes! Anyway, I have laundry to do and I also have to run the dishwasher, it's almost full. I'm glad my mom will be brining silverware to this house--yay! Thanks mom! Anyway, I'm in the mood to shop (I'm NOT always in the mood to shop) so I'd better wait a little bit. I have a limited budget today and I don't want to go into the store and look at all the crap I can't afford to buy and really, have no use for anyway. Geeze! Water, catfood, fruit, packing tape for my mom, pitas so Colin can make dinner tonight, and a look at pants....tha'ts IT...I truly don't NEED anything else! I think I'll go to Target, sounds like fun to me! I heard a great tip from a lady at work today, (a lady at work today, after work, on my way to work; all new sentences and vocabulary for me, it's very cool, I even get to wear a name tag and everything--really cool! I know I'll get over the novelty of it, but I hope I don't forget how blessed I am to be learning new things, acquiring new skills and working a job, period. Pretty much any job at this point, it's a blessing!). Anyawy, this lady at work, she's tiny like me, 4.10" (a few 1/4 inches shorter than me) and she said she buys capris in the women's department and they end up looking like pants on her. So if I bought Petite's or Jr's or even larger little girls' capri's, I could do well! Yay! Great tip, thanks Jacklyn!!! I'm excited about work; I think I'll get tired of having to dress up every day....but still, it's nice to look nice. Dressing appropiately does exude a certain confidance, and as a naturally pretty girl (not overly gorgeous or amazing, but pretty), it's nice to play that up sometimes! I definately clean up well!
Thank you Lord for this beautiful day, my legs to walk with, my brain to think with, this work-training opportunity, and all of my family and friends! You, and my life totally rock! Thanks again and keep it comin', please!
In Light N' Love,
-Sarah Liz :)
P.S. Colin and I went and cruised the strip on Sunday night after he got off work! We went to dinner and had fun! We went in the Monte Carlo, I'd never been, it's nice, low-key, smells good and is nice! It was fun! This Thursday, after work, I'm having a facial and make up consultation in my home with my friend, Sarah! Oh, it should be so much fun! I really looking foward to it! I won the Prize of the Month with Mary Kay and won a Beauty Block: a facial, make up consultation and a gift card! She'll probably try and sell me stuff (my mom sold Mary Kay for a while when I was younger, she did well), buthey, I don't have to leave my house and it'll be great to share it with Sarah! Cool beans! Okay, now I really have to run! LOL! :) Bye for now!
