Candles are Lit.....for EarthHour!

The candles are lit, the flashlight(s) are revved up and my hand-crank lights and battery-operated lanterns (2) are all ready to go....

As it turns out, my husband is actually at work, so we won't be experiencing this Earth Hour together; however, we were talking about it in depth, last night and this morning, and he said that it does sound like a good idea to our own Earth Hour once a month or so.

On a non-EarthHour related noted: Colin & I had a wonderful morning together and just really enjoy hanging out together! I found this on People.com, and though I don't consider myself a fan, nor follower, of Fergie and Josh Duhmel, I do feel like Fergie does...she just got married in January and this is what she said about it: ""Now that the wedding is over, we are so chill and comfortable together – the feeling I have about Josh is like coming home," Fergie tells PEOPLE about life after their Jan. 10 nuptials in Malibu. "There is that small and intimate feeling I have all of the time that tells me things are so right! It was wonderful to share our special day with families and friends. But now we can be casual and happy and move ahead." That's exactly how I feel too! Our wedding day, three weeks ago, was the absolute best day of our lives, but it's also really nice to just be married now and moving forward in our lives! There's a real peace and comfort that marriage has given me, that I honestly did not expect, and it's been a most wonderful surprise! I'm glad to see that Fergie & Josh are happy, I'm glad to anyone happy! We all deserve lots of happiness in this crazy world we live in!

Anyway, I went to the store today and came out and made a really good Greek Salad. In the last few months I've gained an affinity for Olives; particularly Kalamata or Green, oh gosh, they're so good! They're so yummy and pungent and flavorful! Just delicious! Cucumbers and onions are great too! I just love food, in case you didn't know! :) It's weird to think that for the first three or four years of my life, I did not eat by mouth, because Lord knows I've well made up for it since then! I'm so blessed to be able to have food to eat, and not go hungry, and then doubly blessed because I get to make & eat food that I ENJOY! Life is good!

It's been inspiring to see EVERYONE around the WHOLE world go dark for Earth Hour. (I'm still highly anticpating the Las Vegas Strip going dark--I'm most excited to see that, and glad I'm not actually down there in person! Wow!) It's so awesome! So many times I look at this world, and human beings as a whole and I become entirely disappointed. I feel like so much of our human history has been (and is) steeped in violence, bloodshed, hatred and utter stupidity. But, then, once in a while...there are days like this. Where the whole world (those who can and know about it) come TOGETHER, for the RIGHT reason. To ban together in the spirit of humanity and do something great for our planet! I must say that I feel honored (although sometimes resentful of the anscestor's who used so much of this earth) to live in a day and be in a generation who is concious and AWARE of their place and time on this planet. It's really an honor!

So, all and all, I'm inspired! And I'm ready to turn off this computer, turn off the TV, and sit by the beautiful glow of candlelight! I've decided I'm going to meditate and write those Thank You cards, and who knows, maybe I'll enjoy this time so much, I'll go past 9:30pm...you never know!

I wish for all of you, and Earth Hour, and a night, that is fun, relaxing, quiet (if you want it to be) and inspiring! Remember that the way we leave this earth, and our actions while we're upon it, really do matter!

Thank You, Lord, for this time, the beauty of candlelight, the sense of smell that comes from those lit candles surrounding me right now. My home, my family and my life! Please continue to bless it all!

Happy Earth Hour, everybody, ENJOY!

In Light, Love & Eco-Peace,
-Sarah Liz :)

P.S. I found out today while preparing for Earth Hour, that heaven for bid there was an actual accident or NEED for continuous light without actual electricity; me and Colin would be good to go! We're pretty prepared and that's a good feeling. We still need an official Emergency Preparedness Kit, but all and all, we've definitely got enough candles and LED lights to last us a while! So, here's to not only Earth Hour, but emergency-preparedness being brought into our minds and yet another thing we need to be aware of in this world! In Light & Love, -SL :)
