GRANDMA IN HER SEWING ROOM
by Sarah E. Doan

Grandma in her sewing room,
abundant in all her glory.
Yarn, thread and lace,
an intense passion upon her face.
Cotton, Tafita, Rayon and Silk,
beside her table, a big glass of milk.

Grandma in her sewing room.
hundreds of spools of thread,
constant creations running through her head.
Fabric in many colors,
violet, blue and lemon yellow,
she says sewing makes her mellow.

Grandma in her sewing room,
she likes peach and hunter green,
what she'll make next remains to be seen.
Anything that's calm or vintage or cool,
in her sewing room,
it is Grandma who rules!
Concentrating hard, cutting lots of fabric,
when it comes to creating,
she doesn't need to be dramatic.

Grandma in her sewing room,
laying out patterns, she says it's fun,
she's on a quest for absolute perfection.
Pin holders, rainbows and a cardboard mat,
sometimes she gets lost in there and forgets where she's at.

Grandma in her sewing room,
many scissors, sharp and long,
a lifetime collection of supplies that go on and on.
Cutting, snipping and zipping with her all might,
she often works gracefully into the night.

Grandma in her sewing room,
glasses on, with hands that are steady,
she does not finish 'till the garment is ready.
Making things for family,
from her heart with love.

Grandma in her sewing room,
sits there like an angel from above.
Her creativity overflows,
how much she means to me,
she'll never know.
The gift of persistance and joy,
are the trademark of all her creations,
her generosity is never coy.

Grama in her sewing room,
as beautiful as ever,
Grandma give up?
No, not ever.

Grandma in her sewing room,
in all her glory!

Grandma, I love you,
I hope you liked this story!

SLOWER WAY OF LIFE
by Sarah E. Doan

There's a long country road,

2 lane highway; gravel n' dirt.
the closest sign of life 'round here,
is the laundry mat where I wash my shirt.

There's no movie theaters, only one grocery store,

it's unreal what's not around here,
I guess less really is more.

The sun is shinnin' bright

the big trees sway in the wind.
The mountains are in view,
I can feel my spirit again.

The sky is unpolluted and blue,

I might have to stick around,
simplicity is in view
.
Yeah the grass is green.

And artificial beauty,it doesn't mean a thing
.
The people here are so friendly,

not very usual these days,
yeah these folks sincerely care.
it's so nice to breathe fresh air.

Fast and now are overated,

we live in a world,
that's got us jaded.

The slow way is the best way,

fresh produce and farm cheese,
These laid back days,
put me at ease.

Life is easier here,

Yeah, simple is nice.
I'm begining to love,
the slower way of life.
