Happy 4th of July!!!

I just love the 4th of July, I always have!!! :) Today, has been one of the most uneventful and quiet ones of my life, but none the less--once I turned on PBS's "A Capitol Fourth" I totally got into the spirit of things!

Despite our differences in this country, despite the stinkhole it's becoming at times and despite our very real difficulties lately--(economy, the Gulf Shore Oil Spill, etc.) I STILL love this country!

I am still so proud and so blessed to be an American, I consider it a privilege to have been born and raised here! There's a lot I don't like about America, but there's far more that I love about it--and the best part is, I can come on this blog and say that. I can come on here, or walk down my street--wearing whatever it is I please and say whatever it is that I'm feeling! I can drive, go from state to state or overseas even. I can do so much here in America that as a woman, I couldn't do in other countries.

If and when I don't like something, I can either do something about to try and change it, or I can complain about it anyway--that's freedom!

After all, as said in this History Channel video, it is "A purely American custom, to freely criticize the government."

The story of this country is downright amazing, the strength and perseverance of its people--our immigrants, our ancestors and the wonderful people today! It absolutely humbles me, and makes me so proud to be an American!

There is some of American History that isn't all stars and glory, some of it is even shameful (slavery, disenfranchisement of women, racial segregation, the ever widening gap between the philty rich and the truly poor, etc, etc) but, so much more of America's History is bold and beautiful and proud!

I suggest you watch "America: The Story of Us" for more inspiring stories about the terrific history America has built! Another great thing about this day is that it seems to be the one day where all of us Americans put aside our differences, step through and above the crap and come together to celebrate this nation where we can all agree to disagree!

It's just inspiring!

So, Happy 234th Birthday, we love you, thanks for all you've done for us--and continue to do! And Lord, thank You for placing me in such a country where I can be free--God Bless America! Happy 4th of July!!!

In Light N' Love,
-Sarah Liz :)
