Live for Today: Quotes

I'd like to write a big entry, but I'm too tired right now, it's time for bed....before I go though here today's quotes:

"Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from."
-- Al Franken, "Oh, the Things I Know", 2002

I like this quote because it's so very true. We all make mistakes, and I truly believe that nothing is a failure if a lesson from it is learned. Some mistakes I've made? Jumping into certain things before I really thought about it, taking my Grandpa Frank for granted when he was alive and well and obviously adored me, not forgiving people soon enough. I've learned from all these mistakes and am better for them, hopefully!

"We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done."
-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This quote is also true. Kinda like the good judgment, bad judgement quote I had a few days ago. We judge people by what they've done before, instead of what they can do now. We all do it. We shouldn't, but we do. This quote has reminded me, once again, today's theme, "Be in the Now." Live for today, it's all we have!

"It's in the nature of life that we protect ourselves against things that never happen and utterly fail to contemplate things that do."
-Erica Jong
My philosophy teacher introduced my to Erica Jong and I really enjoy her writings. She appears to be a very wise woman and can serve as an inspriation to me as I want to be a writer. I love this quote about because we are always playing the "what if," game and taking precautions so that we dont' get hurt, burned, etc...it's not good to be stupid, but it's also not good to be so defenseive that we miss the value what's going on. And you know, I don't think any of us ever truly understand what happens to us, or much of anything. But, we can always try. I like this quote very much and I invite you to visit Ms. Jong's website at www.ericajong.com

I'll write more later on, time for bed!

Many Blessings,
