The One with the Child's Laughter...
Last night, I hung out with a friend's daughter. She is 4 and too precious! I love spending time with kids because they are just the best! They make everything seem better! They are completely and totally in the moment, non-judgemental and wonderfully expressive and joyful! Without a doubt, I think kids rock! :) Children have a way of putting EVERYTHING into perspective for you (for me, actually). They have an ability to weed out what isn't really important, and help you focus on what really is. They are bright and smart (getting smarter by the day!) and all around great! I love seeing the shinning light in their eyes! I started this ENTIRE blog (5+ years ago) with an entry stating how much I loved children and most days, how I'd rather be in a room full of children, than a room full of adults--and I still feel that way. I love adults too, and I'm glad I get face time with them--sometimes, kids can be a pain in the butt and adult conversation with another adult is SO nice and refreshing! But, I still love kids! I think they are the best teachers and best reminders of what really matters in life! They force you to look at yourself, be accountable for your words and your actions and just generally bring out the very best a person--at least they do in me! I have always loved children, even when I was a child myself--if they were even a year younger than I was, I still adored them! The BEST part about being with a child (a happy, well-adjusted child at least!) is THEIR LAUGH! Oh my sweet Lord, there is NOTHING on this entire planet that is quite as great as hearing a child laugh! A child's laughter is sincerely one of the best things in life and a baby life is like none other! It's organic and wonderful--not coersive or judgemental; it's free and lovely! And when you MAKE that child or baby laugh, when you know you are the reason they are laughing--it's even better! The wackiest, often stupidest stuff, makes them laugh--but that's one of the things that's so great about them! Children are fascinated by EVERYTHING and everything is something new and different, and a chance to learn! I LOVE THAT! In that way, I'm still a child myself and I sincerely hope to never lose that about myself. But, anyway, I just love kids! Hearing them laugh and being a part of their lives, it's just the best! I don't necessarily want my OWN children--some days I do, some days I don't--overall, I'm not ready for my own yet. Don't know that ever will be, and eh, not now. But, I sure love hanging out with friends' kids! They just make my day! Back to the baby (child) laughs--I double dog dare you to hear a baby/child laugh and NOT start laughing yourself--I doubt it can be done! If you're not laughing yourself, I can guarantee you'll at least be smiling! How can you hear a child's laughter and not smile yourself? Some of the widest smiles that ever come across my face have been at the sound of a child's laughter! I am blessed to have some amazing children in my life and I thank the good Lord for them everyday! Most of all, I think my friends/family for having them and letting me hang out with them! Seriously, y'all, thank God for Kids--they're just awesome little beings!
