Six years ago today, I was in the hospital having a serious female surgery done. It was the begining of a long five year struggle and one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Although the prognosis today is great, it wasn't back then, and I wrote an email to my dear friend, and former nurse, Claudia, to thank her. I will write more tomorrow, I just wanted to remember and celebrate my life and my strength and how far I've come in six short years! Bye for now!

Hi Claudia,

Do you remember where you were six years ago tonight? Probably not, but I certainly do! Six years ago tonight, on July 27, 1999 you were hoisting me off a flat board into a comfy bed in room 611 or 642 @ UCSF 6th Floor. I had just had my a serious female surgery, and although that one didn't take, and it would be another five years before it actually decided to work, I can't help but get a bit sentimental over where I was six years ago tonight. There are so many miracles in my life, Claudia, and I'm so incredibly blessed to still be here. I don't even have it that bad, I mean, I look aroud and see people without limbs or ability to breathe solo or people who are burned or mamed or can't eat, and I think "God, thank you, I'm SO lucky." Each day, I thank God for all the blessings in my life, and all the amazing people who helped me get to this day, and you're among those people, Claudia. Words cannot express what your love, support, care and concern mean to me, both as my former-nurse, and more importantly, as my friend. I love you and I want to thank you for making some of the most difficult times in my life (hence, six years ago today) a little easier, a little brighter and a lot more joyful! I hope all is well with you, keep in touch and we'll talk soon!

Lots of Love,
Your Friend,
-Sarah :)

Many Blessings,
SL
